In a significant development for the display technology sector, TCL CSOT has introduced its APEX philosophy at SID Display Week 2026, aiming to revolutionize how screens cater to human experiences. With consumer expectations rising for richer visuals and immersive interactions across various devices, TCL CSOT recognizes the need to combine innovation with sustainability and well-being. This new approach marks a shift from traditional display manufacturing, which often emphasizes technical specifications over user-focused design.
The APEX Philosophy
TCL CSOT's APEX philosophy is rooted in the belief that display technology should enhance human experiences. Ming-Jong Jou, Chief of Technology Planning Center for TCL CSOT, said, “The APEX philosophy represents our attempt to put human experience at the center of display engineering, while treating AI as a foundational tool throughout the entire development process.” The integration of artificial intelligence is not just a technical enhancement but a crucial element that supports the entire innovation pipeline.
Advancements in Display Technology
The APEX initiative has already led to practical innovations, including the launch of the world's largest HVA Ultra TV Display, measuring an impressive 130 inches. This ultra-slim display, with a profile of just 29.8mm, merges eco-friendly principles with energy-efficient technologies, proving that premium performance can coexist with environmental responsibility. The display uses natural light technologies that balance picture quality with user comfort, a central consideration in the APEX strategy.
Another significant advancement is the introduction of the RGBC pixel structure, which adds a cyan subpixel to the traditional RGB configuration. This enhancement addresses a common limitation of standard RGB setups, which often struggle to reproduce colors accurately in the blue and cyan spectrum. By improving color accuracy and contrast, TCL CSOT's displays aim to provide a more natural and convincing viewing experience, especially in their 85-inch WHVA Ultra LCD TV, which offers 4K+ picture quality.
Efficiency Through AI
AI's implementation extends to the manufacturing process as well. TCL CSOT utilizes AI digital twin technology to streamline testing and simulations, greatly reducing the need for physical prototypes. This efficiency not only saves time but also lowers costs, tackling one of the industry's longstanding challenges. Jou noted, “We use an AI digital twin to save a lot of time in testing and using simulations, which reduces the number of prototypes we need to manufacture.” Additionally, AI enhances quality control by identifying defects faster than manual methods.
The Future of Display Innovation
As TCL CSOT continues to innovate under the APEX philosophy, the implications for the display industry are significant. Manufacturers face growing pressure to merge technical performance with user-centric design while maintaining sustainability practices. This dual focus on human experience and environmental impact could establish a new benchmark for competitors in the field.
The APEX philosophy and its innovations could redefine consumer expectations for displays, shifting the narrative from mere specifications to genuine user experience. As TCL CSOT moves forward, the industry will closely observe how these advancements influence the future of visual technology.
