The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was signed during a state visit to Canada led by King Felipe VI of Spain. Meanwhile, Cohere will provide sovereign language models designed to support Spain's diverse linguistic landscape, which includes Spanish, Catalan, Valencian, Basque, and Galician. The goal is to integrate these models into IndraMind’s intelligence ecosystem, making sure that the developed solutions are tailored to local contexts and needs.
Jacinto Monge, CEO of Indra Group in North America, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership, stating, “To build sovereign and competitive capabilities, we need to connect ecosystems between allied regions such as Canada and Spain.” He stressed the need for collaboration among governments and businesses to build trust and drive innovation in critical areas like defense and supply chain management.
Cohere’s co-founder and CEO, Aidan Gomez, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the evolving AI landscape requires companies to seek ownership rather than rental of AI technologies.
