In a major step for the professional services sector, KPMG will integrate Claude, an AI developed by Anthropic, into its operations, affecting over 276,000 employees worldwide. This partnership represents a significant shift for KPMG as it seeks to improve service delivery and internal efficiency through AI technology.
Expanding AI Capabilities Across KPMG
The global alliance will embed Claude into KPMG's Digital Gateway platform, the primary software for both internal teams and clients. With this integration, KPMG plans to transform workflows, especially in areas where precision and accountability are essential. Bill Thomas, Global Chairman and CEO of KPMG International, stated, "At KPMG, we’re innovating and redefining how work gets done. This global alliance with Anthropic reflects our shared commitment to responsible AI, prioritizing security, trust, and governance."
KPMG's Digital Gateway, built on Microsoft Azure, will now include Claude Cowork and Managed Agents, enabling professionals to create AI solutions with remarkable speed and efficiency. Tasks that previously took weeks can now be completed in minutes, significantly streamlining workflows. Rema Serafi, Vice Chair of Tax at KPMG US, noted, "Building an AI agent to help clients adjust to changing tax regulations used to take weeks… That same capability takes minutes now. This is a totally different way of working."
Focus on Private Equity and Cybersecurity
Beyond improving internal processes, KPMG will serve as a preferred partner for private equity firms, implementing Claude within their portfolio companies. This initiative aims to promote the development of AI-driven products and services, in line with the increasing trend of AI adoption in business operations. KPMG’s new offerings, like KPMG Blaze, will integrate Claude Code, helping firms modernize IT systems more quickly.
Claude's role will also extend to cybersecurity, assisting in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in critical infrastructures. This emphasis on security aligns with KPMG's commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and trust in AI applications. Tim Walsh, Chair and CEO of KPMG US, remarked, "Our clients depend on us where accuracy, judgment, and knowledge matter most… Trust and innovation are the core of this new offering."
Researching the Human-AI Interaction
KPMG's collaboration with the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin highlights the significance of human involvement in AI deployment. Their joint research indicates that the effectiveness of AI systems like Claude largely depends on how employees interact with the technology. Ethan Burris, Senior Associate Dean at UT Austin, emphasized that organizations must clarify the human role in leveraging AI for maximum value. The insights gained will assist KPMG in designing its AI tools to better serve clients and improve operational workflows.
As this extensive rollout begins, KPMG clients are encouraged to connect with their account teams to explore how integrating Claude within the Digital Gateway can enhance operations. KPMG’s strategic alignment with Anthropic not only positions the firm as a leader in responsible AI deployment but also sets a benchmark for the professional services industry.
As technology becomes increasingly central to business success, KPMG’s partnership with Anthropic is poised to redefine service delivery standards across audit, tax, legal, and advisory sectors, ensuring clients receive exceptional support backed by advanced AI capabilities.
