A significant initiative has been launched by the UAE government to train 80,000 federal employees in Agentic AI technologies, marking a step towards the realization of UAE Government 4.0. This ambitious project, approved by the UAE Cabinet, aims to integrate Agentic AI across 50% of government services and operations by 2025.
Framework and Scope of Training
Chaired by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Cabinet meeting outlined a framework that defines the roles of ministries and federal entities involved in this national project. Teams will set specific targets and establish assessment indicators to evaluate productivity and efficiency.
The training initiative will encompass employees at all levels, from ministers to new recruits across various government sectors. The goal is to ensure that comprehensive knowledge of Agentic AI is shared throughout the workforce, enhancing service delivery.
Personalised Learning Pathways
To support this training, a dedicated digital platform will be introduced, providing personalized learning pathways tailored to the roles and competency levels of employees. This approach aims to maximize the effectiveness of the training by addressing individual needs and skill gaps.
The program is being developed in collaboration with leading national universities and specialized global technology firms. It will cover five categories of training: leadership, technical skills, specialist roles, general workforce capabilities, and train-the-trainers modules. This strategy seeks to build a well-rounded understanding of Agentic AI across the government.
Integration of Agentic AI in Government Services
Alongside the training initiative, the UAE Cabinet has approved the first package of government services that will incorporate Agentic AI technologies. The initial rollout will include a range of services aimed at citizens, residents, businesses, and the general public, marking a shift in how government services are delivered.
Driving the National Transformation Strategy
This initiative is part of a broader national transformation strategy directed by HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. As HH Sheikh Mohammed noted, the “journey of transformation toward UAE Government 4.0 has begun,” emphasizing the urgency and significance of this undertaking.
With these advancements, the UAE is positioning itself to become a global leader in the adoption of Agentic AI within government operations, setting a precedent for other nations to follow. As the project unfolds, the implications for digital governance and public service delivery could reshape how government interacts with its citizens.
